To the Zoo!

Jason and I decided at last minute to head to the Miami Zoo.  We had not been yet and had heard that it is one of the top zoos in the US.  It in fact is pretty amazing.  It is about 5 times the size of the Houston Zoo and the animal enclosures are very large.   They also have lots of species I had never even heard of before.  They had a large tropical bird exhibit and aviary where the birds are just free to fly and walk all over the place.  We had a good time with the exception that it was HOT.  We made it through Asia and half way through Africa but couldn't take the heat, so we skipped over to The Amazon exhibit but didn't get to see much of it, as we were ducking into the air conditioned reptile houses.  We'll go back soon, but maybe on a day that it has cooled off slightly (um, October?).  Below are some pictures I took, there are almost none of the babies because, well they had the same expression the whole time.  "Why am I in a stroller, and man, it's hot!"

I wanna go home
I had fun!

October is probably a good idea! GREAT pics! Loved the red-headed bird. What is it?

It is a Sarus Crane and is HUGE. It was 5 feet tall and just walked around like he owned the place
