Stuff happenin'

Anne and I decided to ditch our kids and go to the State Fair of Texas this morning. Score 1 for mommy time! It was so nice to walk around and look at things instead of chasing after hyper preschoolers. We enjoyed corn dogs and funnel cakes. All to ourselves.

Now that all the fall flowers are in bloom in my garden...they are infested with bees. This is all great for nature and stuff but I happen to be allergic to bees...and they are everywhere swarming my yard.

Zane has "the look". This is his very obvious attempt at being sneaky. He's horrible at it. He's had this look since he was born. He tucks his lower lip in and makes his eyes wide. Then, I believe, he thinks he becomes invisible.
He slinks around thinking no one notices him.

Ya...I know this face. (6 wks old)

A surprise encounter!

We went to the park this gorgeous morning and the kids ran into Karla! They have not seen Karla for months because we have moved to a new school.
It was the sweetest thing. Karla walks up and Lily screams, "KARWA!!" and she screamed back "WIWEE!!" And then Zane tried to steal Karla's snack. It's how he says hello.

It's always great to run into an old friend

Embrace the camera Thursday: On Friday

I normally don't get on the computer until naptime (bc Z goes insane if he sees the computer on) but there was an email I needed to return.
While I was typing away, Lily grabbed my camera and took pictures of (what I will assume) are her two favorite subjects. Then she reminded me that we needed a "smile" together. I love that she calls pictures "smiles".
Oops! Mom forgot
yesterday. Is today really Friday?
So we got down on the floor and snapped a picture. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

It's like having a puppy

While I hate it when people say, to practice for a baby we got a puppy, somedays, having a boy child around IS like having a puppy.

Step 1: See naked child streaking through living room laughing wildly (who was previously clothed and diapered)
Step 2: Walk into his room to find this.
Step 3: Listen to daughter freak out yelling EWWWW! YUCKY!!!

Riding the daddy choochoo

Grapevine.jpg

(Picture above from the Grapevine Vintage Railroad Site)

We left Grapefest and headed home for lunch and a nap. After Z&L took their naps we went back up to Grapefest because I have been promising the kids that we would ride the real train for weeks. Lily pointed out to Zane that we rode the baby choochoo in the morning, but it was now time to ride the Daddy Choochoo.

Super excited about this ride

They enjoyed the free popcorn

But by the end of the ride, everyone was starting to melt from the heat.

Below are some videos which may be boring to you unless you are a grandparent, a relative or just think my kids are as adorable as I do. If you do not fall into these categories, you may get bored out of your mind.

Waiting for the train to go...
What are you we going to do?
SMILE! PICTURE!
(she kept posing waiting for me to take the picture not knowing I was taking a video)

Still waiting to go
Lily was in charge of the tickets and wanted me to FIX IT! to the broken train next to us.
OK CARS let's go!

And we're off!
The ticket taker man did not realize that Lily doesn't like people
BUT the nice coach lady brought Z&L popcorn. Twice. She was very popular

Apparently the train was taking us to Pop's house, Pawpaw's house, Nana's house, and Neenee's house.

Grapefest 2010

Why won't anyone play with me?

It's hot. I'm sweating.

This was Lily and Zane's expression for the whole "train" ride. Lily was totally grossed out and Zane was having a blast. When we got off, Lily's only comment was..."Train...yucky dirty". I think she's recalling our last Grapevine festival where mom and kids both got Hand Foot and Mouth.
She wouldn't touch anything

Embrace the camera Thursday

What's more silly, the camera on mommy's head of the fact my daughter loves toast so much (and putting her toasty hands on my shirt).

Why I can't make mom friends

Sometimes it's hard to put yourself out there...but hey...this is me, these are my thoughts.

Make sure to check out all the videos in the series!

At least it was yellow

I was busy packing bags for tomorrow's trip when I noticed silence in the house.

Fevers have broken (one of those 24 hr virus friends) and mischief is on tap.

Tylenol for the masses

First week of school. Fevers abound.

The voices in my head

Lily, I'm kinda scared about all this tornado talk, what's a tornado?

They're rotating columns of air that generate from supercells, stop bothering me and watch Fresh Beat Band or something.

ok, I see, I just get scared when all....hey wait, is that yogurt? Can I have some?

No.

Dangit.

Embrace the camera Thursday

Lily says good morning, along with mommy's greasy unshowered face

Zane and I stare like zombies into the television set, rotting our brains as we see fit

TIME TO PAINT!
Pointillism with Pizzazz

Sorry we haven't been around much this week. It's amazing how hard it is to get caught up from a trip. Not necessarily the kids, but ME. So much laundry, restocking the fridge/pantry, a dirty house, catching up on emails and phone calls!

How do I even catch up?

We're back from Paris. What a wonderful trip and I'm so glad I got to share it with Mr. Jason. The first few days were a bit wet and we feared it would rain all week, but then the skies cleared and we had the most beautiful weather you could ask for. Above are some pictures from the trip, however I must let you know that Picasa has shrunk all the image sizes down to just barely 1mb each. They are fuzzy and grainy. I'm trying to fix the problem.

The day/night we returned from our 11 hour plane flight we swanked it up at Neenee's birthday party! We fought our jet lag the best way we knew how, to party all night. We had so much fun and were so glad we could make it to such a fun affair. (yes that's me, the band started playing Freebird, what else was I supposed to do but interpretive dance?)

After dropping Mr. Jason off at the airport Sunday, I headed into downtown Houston to stay and play with little Miss Riley. I'm so thankful Kristin let me get my newborn fix and allowed me to take care of her little one for a few days. She is an adorable little girl with a happy mama.

(Zane is in his standard pose for group photos)

The kids have told me over and over how exciting Pop & Neenee's and Nana and Pawpaws house were. In fact, they keep telling me they don't want to be here at our house but would rather go back. The central driving force seems to be "ice keem!" Apparently, this is readily available in Richmond, Texas and the twins want more now. We are so thankful for everyone watching Lily & Zane while mommy and daddy got to take a fabulous vacation. Even through the jet lag, we came home rested and little bit more mentally stable. :)

Since returning from the trip, we have jumped back into the swing of everyday life here in Dallas. This week we went to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden's. The weather has been so much cooler than before we left and we are taking full advantage of it. The date on the time stamp is obviously wrong, apparently mommy and Pawpaw accidently switched mini-cameras and I don't know how to work his. oops.

and....this guy was on our porch tonight. How cool is he!

On Hiatus: Paris!

Jason and I will be traveling to Paris and the blog won't be up and running until I get back to Dallas sometime before September. Everyone be well!

(Don't you...duh-dun duh dun-duh...forget about me...DAH! don't don't don't don't)

This is kinda what Jason looks like in the morning

and this is pretty much how I look.

New Floors!

Much better...good bye Aqua carpet, hello beautiful stone floors

This carpet is called Barrier Reef, I was disappointed it came with no fishies.
PS there is more to our guest room than a table and a mattress, it's just all living in the parlor right now until we piece it all back together. Today the kids enjoyed jumping on the mattress like monkeys on a bed.

Saturday morning, we leave for Houston to drop of the little guys and then Jason and I are off to PARIS! I'm a tad bit excited. But you know who is NOT excited...

(you know I'm going to crap on your pillow as soon as you leave right?)

More important than anything, I get to share this experience with someone I hold dear to my heart, and that you can never replace. He came in the mail today...

Hello Lover.
