Not limits

Today we ventured out to the Colleyville City KidKingdom Playground. This is a fantastically built death trap for twin toddlers. Definitely a one-on-one defense situation, but I didn't know that going in and so I'm a bit tired and sore from chasing them about the place.

There is a "toddler" section but do you think Zane and Lily had ANY interest in that section? Not one bit. Instead they wanted to play with the big kids and give mom a heart attack. We had only one major fall and that was from Zane.

If you zoom in on the picture (click on it), you can see the tire climb there on the right. Zane climbed all the way to the top tire, got scared and started trying to come down. When he flipped over to his back and butt to scoot down, like he would tall stairs, he fell straight through the hole of the tire and landed with a THUD and scream on his back, all the way on the ground. About five feet. I jumped off the platform I was on (and asking Lily to PLEASE not go down the slide without mommy) superhero hurdle style, and got to him. Brushed him off, assessed the scratches up and down his back from tire and the mulch and decided it was time to call it a day. He agreed. Then I watched Lily slide down the slide, spin at the turn and land on her head. Sigh.

Heh, just found your post about leashes. DO NOT feel bad . Leashes saved my kids lives more than once. From oncoming traffic and from a frazzled mom who couldn't catch two toddlers at one time. They are 9 and 11 &have no scars from the experiance .I actually still put a "leash" on there wrists til probably the third grade. They just did not have the ability to be aware of my location in a place like a fair. The leash kept them from getting swept away in crowds too. Leashes are a nessisary paart of parenting in our busy world. Kids can get hurt too quickly, without some restraint, until they are capable of being excited and aware of their surroundings at the same time. You did the right thing!
