This well child check up was the worst yet. Imagine two toddlers, kicking and screaming at the top of their lungs, THE WHOLE VISIT. I felt so bad for our new pediatrician. It was not a good introduction for her. Both Jason and I believe Zane's height is incorrect because he looks a whole 2 inches taller than Lily, but while trying to take his height on the table he was kicking the nurses in the face and wrestling his body off the table. I don't blame them for not getting an accurate measurement.
The visit was quick, because it needed to be, but the doctor had some assessments about Mr. Zane. She is recommending speech therapy and an ENT visit. Zane's communication skills are considered "delayed" and his attitude is getting worse and worse these days. He sleeps 12.5 hours a night straight and takes a 2-3 hour nap during the day most days. Yet, he's ALWAYS tired and yawning. The doctor even remarked about the bags under his eyes.
Sometimes when he wakes up he's in hysterics that will last for an hour. We believe he may have sleep apnea and is not getting good quality rest at night. This causes a VERY CRANKY child and his inability to focus on anything (including words) is quite apparent. They're going to conduct a sleep study on him to find out exactly what his sleep looks like at night and whether he's actually getting any rest or not. The speech therapy at Baylor Hospital will help him focus on trying to communicate better. I hope this will lead to decreased tantrums because mom is at her wits end. Imagine a child throwing themselves on the ground screaming and kicking...now imagine that happening about every 20 minutes, now imagine that happening everyday...Welcome to my life.
Our pediatrician got to catch him in one of his fits and said, although temper tantrums are common in toddlers, his intense frequency is not normal. He's exhausted and can't communicate...that makes me pretty cranky too. But we'll get him the help he needs, even if it's surgical.
I'll take some pictures this weekend, I know I've been slacking on the blogging. But really guys, my time is being eaten away but one very unhappy little boy, the energy for blogging has waned.

Oh, Val, no wonder you are so thin and tired. I didn't realize - and I'm so glad there's a good place to get help. You are so good with them both, and I know it takes more than human patience many times. Love you - sending good energy!
