Why you can't watch TV
I normally do not let my kids watch television, with the exception of when they have their breakfast in the morning, we watch 30 mins of Sesame Street together. I don't let them watch tv because studies have shown that too much television delays speech, causes short attention spans, and leads to nightmares....I like to make my life as difficult as possible. Jason is out of town this week to a far away land so that leaves me at home running the show. Tonight I had to get some chores done and I needed Zane and Lily to stay out of the middle of it. So I turned on the electronic babysitter and proceeded to vacuum, dust, and pick up the other parts of the house. I noticed that all was quiet in the house so I took a peek in the living room....and this is why I don't let them just sit in front of the television. They were completely transfixed, didn't even notice my camera was flashing at them. You could almost hear the "duuuuuuuuuuhhhh" coming out of their open mouths. I think they would stay like that all day if I let them. Oh, television, you're tempting.

Yeah, you got it hard, I'm not gonna lie! I only get to let Shelby watch a show in the evenings if Stacy or myself is getting dinner ready (on in the am while getting ready for work) and then we sit down to a nice meal together at night without TV. Okay, so usually that's Stacy cooking dinner and I'm not even home yet. But, the point is, we have daycare all day that's set up like a school with lesson plans. Amazing! So, we get to cheat with the TV a small amount per day. I don't know what I'd do if we were home all day together!
